Join the Carthage College Department of Psychological Science!
My department is in search of a new social psychologist! Please encourage your recent Ph.D. students (or colleagues who are in the market for a move) to apply for our 3-year renewable contract position. We are a thriving department of teacher-scholars. Yes, we’re looking for a social psychologist, but more importantly, we’re looking for a collaborator and teammate! We are a department that deeply values community. (Some might say we’re codependent.)
Our department is unique among small, liberal arts colleges. Every full time faculty member is a leader in their research field. Leslie Cameron is a prolific olfaction researcher, who has also gained recognition for her innovative work on the Scholarship of Teaching & Learning. Melanie Nyhof, currently away on a Fulbright Fellowship, is well-known for her cross-cultural research on children’s development of god concepts. Sara O’Brien does important, high-impact research on issues related to diagnostic classification, transdiagnostic risk factors, and assessment, with a focus on anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorders. And you know what I’m up to.
Additional reasons you should apply:
We have a departmental Halloween costume every year.
We collaborate to develop our curriculum and then we present at conferences about those developments. (Search for us here.)
We truly understand what it means to be a “teacher-scholar,” and we facilitate integration of scholarship and teaching.
